CynergisTek announced that Memorial Hermann Health System (Memorial Hermann), an integrated health system serving Southeast Texas and the Greater Houston community, has selected its Compliance Assist Partner Program (CAPP) to take a proactive approach to privacy and security amidst increased regulatory scrutiny in healthcare. The health system has also added CynergisTek’s Social Engineering and Phishing Assessment services for enhanced protection from external threats and continued awareness and training.

With CynergisTek’s CAPP, Memorial Hermann will benefit from ongoing technical testing, advisory services, and independent reviews of its privacy and security practices, assessing all assets for security and compliance with industry regulations. In addition, CynergisTek’s Social Engineering and Phishing Assessment services will help identify potential attack vectors, while experienced consultants provide valuable insight the health system needs to manage prospective incidents and educate employees on healthcare specific threats.

“CynergisTek’s in-depth industry expertise and proven track record of providing thorough and actionable assessments made it the clear choice to partner with on our privacy and security initiatives,” said Patricia Tooley, Vice President, Privacy and Security at Memorial Hermann. “With its unmatched knowledge of the current threat and regulatory landscape, we look to CynergisTek to provide the unique capability that will help us identify and address any potential vulnerabilities quickly and effectively, which is critical in today’s environment.”

CynergisTek’s managed services are delivered by industry experts and provide an independent, thorough assessment of an organization’s security posture on an ongoing basis. Memorial Hermann also selected the company’s Social Engineering and Phishing services, OCR Audit Readiness Review and Safe Harbor Workshop, which offer the security expertise and guidance organizations need to feel confident that they are compliant with the latest regulations, prepared for enforcement activities, and proactively identifying and addressing risks to protect their patients and data.

“As regulations become more complex and security incidents become more commonplace in healthcare, the need for independent and frequent risk assessments has never been greater,” said Mac McMillan, CEO of CynergisTek. “We applaud Memorial Hermann for its commitment to privacy and security, and look forward to providing the organization with the tools and strategic counsel it needs to not only remain in compliance with HIPAA regulations, but also to seriously and aggressively manage today’s growing threat environment.”
