As healthcare organizations continue their efforts to use EHRs in a meaningful way, they are faced with the challenge of keeping patient data secure as it moves along digital pathways.

The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology has established security criteria for EHRs to obtain certification. That certification is needed to qualify for meaningful use incentive dollars. But even when providers have a certified product in hand, they still need to establish policies and procedures to keep their data safe.

Those policies and procedures need to assess risk at each step in the patient care process, and assess risk on every kind of device in use: laptop, server, mobile device, or workstation.

Our webcast will address these issues and others, including the security risks incurred as hospitals and medical practices exchange protected patient information in health information exchanges.
