CynergisTek had Record Year for Revenue, Company Growth & New Services

CynergisTek achieved record growth in 2013, with more than a 300 percent increase in sales and a 275 percent increase from its previous best sales record. The company also added two new executives to its leadership team and several new offerings to its solutions portfolio. CynergisTek, which celebrated ten years of being incorporated in December, attributes recent growth to increased demand for privacy and security compliance services in response to heightened regulatory requirements for healthcare providers and vendors that provide information services to the healthcare sector. Customers are also anticipating expanded enforcement of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules in wake of the new Omnibus Rule, as well as the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) audit programs, which require provider organizations to demonstrate compliance or risk costly penalties.

To meet growing market demand, CynergisTek increased its workforce by more than 30 percent in 2013, adding two key members to its leadership team: David Holtzman, Esq., former senior advisor to OCR on health IT and the HIPAA Security Rule, as vice president of privacy and security compliance services; and Melissa Stice Larson, former senior IT auditor for Ascension Health and the Catholic Health Audit Network, as vice president of audit compliance services. Further bolstering its cadre of legal experts, CynergisTek also added Erin McMillan, Esq. as a compliance consultant, where she specializes in privacy policies, processes and procedures.

CynergisTek also launched new audit services this year to help providers keep pace with increased enforcement efforts by OCR and CMS. CynergisTek’s new audit services, OCR Mock Audit, OCR Audit Readiness Exercise and Meaningful Use Mock Audit, identify compliance deficiencies, assess audit readiness and prepare staff, and have been very well received by the market.
