CynergisTek to Present Multiple Times at AHIMA’s National Convention

Saturday, October 26th: McMillan will help get the conference started at the Privacy and Security Institute. This full day session will be led by the experts to address some of the biggest topics such as regulatory disparity, Business Associates and Business Associate Agreements, and data breaches. McMillan will contribute to regulatory hot topics with his presentation, “OCR Audits: The Next Generation”. This hour long session will review the trends and feedback found during OCR’s initial random audit program. He will highlight how health IT professionals can learn from the audits and how to apply it to their organization’s privacy and security program.

Sunday, October 27th: McMillan will be co-presenting with partner Iatric Systems at AHIMA’s Product World. In this session McMillan will highlight the gaps in patient privacy and how important it is to audit and monitor PHI. Iatric Systems will discuss how their solution Security Audit Manager (SAM) can help alleviate an organization’s auditing and monitoring procedures.

Wednesday, October 30th: Mac McMillan will join several industry experts to discuss current HIPAA/HITECH challenges, especially as the Omnibus Rule made many changes to HIPAA Rules. Panelists include Adam Greene, Partner at Davis, Wright Tremaine; Rita Bowen of HealthPort and Judi Hofman of St. Charles Health System. Together they will provide an attorney, a business associate and a Information Security Officer’s perspective and will have an open floor discussion about the Omnibus Rule.
